First Backyard Camping with Daddy

Titus has been begging Daddy for a camping trip in the backyard and the time has finally come. A tent, a fire,s'mores, firefly catching - what else could a boy ask for?

Previous years I have not been ready to have Titus loose with Sparklers, so he was pretty excited about getting fire on a stick. We did use the Pinterest idea of using a Solo plastic cup to separate his hand from the direct heat.

We also enjoyed root beer floats for our annual July 4th family tradition out on the back deck.

Last, but not lease, every year I have taken Titus' picture on the 4th of July for age comparison. This year I took Baby Beeps first 4th of July picture.

Lesson 1.1 God is Creator

I ran across a really cool website on Pinterest during a period of time when Titus was asking, "Who made this?" He was asking the question about everything from trees to streets and cars. For trees and such I would tell him God made them and for objects like streets and cars, I would tell him people made them using God's materials. I also got to thinking that it was about time I started doing Bible lessons with Titus along with his schooling, and creation was a great place to start.

The more I look at her ideas and materials, the more I like them. We finished up the seven days of creation today. Here are Titus' numbers 1-7.

God made light and separated it from the darkness. (Gen. 1:1-5)

God made the heavens. (Gen. 1:6-8)

God created land and separated it from the water. He made the trees, flowers and vegetation. (Gen. 1:9-13)

God made the sun, moon and stars. (Gen. 1:14-19)

God made the birds and the fish. (Gen. 1:20-23)

God made the animals and people. (Gen. 1:24-31)

God rested. (Gen. 2:1-3)

I like learning right along side Titus. With every number we have done I have had to look it up beforehand, because I do not have them memorized even though I have read through them a dozen times. We will be taking a break from all lessons after this week until life settles down after the baby comes. I am hoping to start back either mid-August and definitely by the first of September. Of course, during this time I will be reviewing with Titus the 7 Days of Creation and also letters A-G and the sounds they make.

Titus' Pumpkin Plant

Titus' pumpkin plant has grown. It also looks like he is getting his first two pumpkins.

As I am taking pictures of Titus doing a handstand off of the couch, I don't realize he is stuck. He was laughing the whole time though.

 Near the end of May we went up to Minnesota for vacation at the cabin and to visit family. Here are pictures of Little Cormorant Lake and the cabin.

2014 Garden

This year my garden includes yellow tomatoes, red tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green beans and multi-colored peppers.

Blue Dog planted a pumpkin plant a couple weeks ago and it is doing good so far. Here is a picture of him with his pumpkin plant on May 11th.

Lowercase "b"

Titus made his first attempt at lowercase b on his Aquadoodle. I can not get him to try letters on a consistent basis on paper, so I am just trying anywhere and everywhere until he becomes more confident and wants to do it.
